América Móvil is one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world, based in Mexico. It provides mobile phone service, home internet, pay television, and landline phone service to hundreds of millions of customers across Latin America and parts of Europe. Its best-known brand is Claro, which operates in more than 20 countries, and it also controls Telcel, the dominant mobile carrier in Mexico.

The company makes money by charging customers monthly fees for wireless plans, broadband, and TV packages, as well as selling devices and earning fees from business clients. América Móvil operates in roughly 25 countries, with most of its revenue coming from Latin America, making it the region's leading telecom provider by subscribers. Its massive network infrastructure and scale give it a strong competitive position, but the company faces real risks from currency fluctuations across Latin America, since earnings in local currencies can lose value when converted to Mexican pesos or U.S. dollars.
