PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) is Indonesia's largest Islamic bank, formed in 2021 through the merger of three state-owned Islamic banking units. It offers banking products and services that follow Sharia law, meaning it does not charge or pay traditional interest. Instead, it uses profit-sharing and fee-based arrangements. Its main customers are individual consumers, small businesses, and corporations across Indonesia who prefer or require Islamic financial products.

BSI earns money through financing margins (the difference between what it earns on loans and what it pays depositors, structured in a Sharia-compliant way), fees, and transaction services. It operates almost entirely within Indonesia, one of the world's largest Muslim-majority countries, giving it a large natural customer base. Its state ownership and government backing provide stability and distribution reach. The key growth driver is Indonesia's underpenetrated Islamic finance market, though the main risk is rising competition from conventional banks expanding their own Sharia-compliant divisions.
