Visa Inc. runs one of the world's largest payment networks. When you swipe or tap a Visa card at a store or online, Visa's network is what connects the buyer's bank to the seller's bank in seconds. It serves billions of cardholders, millions of merchants, and thousands of financial institutions across more than 200 countries and territories.

Visa does not lend money or issue cards itself — banks do that. Instead, Visa charges small fees every time its network processes a transaction, which is called a "toll booth" model. This means revenue grows naturally as more people spend more money digitally, without Visa taking on credit risk. Its moat comes from the massive, deeply embedded network of banks and merchants that would be very costly to replace. The main risk is regulatory pressure on interchange fees and growing competition from alternative payment systems, including real-time bank-to-bank payment rails being built by governments around the world.

Growth + cash flow

Visa is a rare growth stock that's already generating positive cash flow while growing at 14%. The Winston Score doesn't fully credit this transition from "burner" to "earner."

The Winston Score above measures business quality today. Growth stocks often score lower because they invest in the future rather than maximising current profits. These metrics show what matters most for evaluating that future.
